What is kaarskoker?
kaarskoker is the brand name developed for these decorative candle covers for light fixtures. While the name has Dutch roots, there is no direct or exact Dutch translation.

What is a candle sleeve or candle cover?
A candle sleeve is tubing that covers a socket on a fixture. Also known as candle covers, candle sleeves slip over the socket of chandeliers, lamps and sconces. Combined with a bulb, they suggest a real candle.

From what material is a kaarskoker or candle cover made?
Art paper and cardboard.

What sizes of kaarskoker or candle covers are available?
kaarskoker is available in a 4” candelabra base and a 6” candelabra base. Measure your existing sleeve or candle cover to determine the replacement size. A sleeve or candle cover height less that 4” requires purchasing the 4” size and carefully trimming each sleeve or candle cover to achieve the desired height. For a sleeve or candle cover height between 4-6”, the 6” size should be purchased and trimmed to fit. See INSTALL for detailed trimming/installation instructions.

How do I know if my fixture takes candelabra or Edison (standard) size kaarskoker?
With the fixture turned off, measure the diameter of your existing sleeve or candle cover. kaarskoker inside diameter is 13/16", which accommodates most candelabra size fixtures. Some light fixtures have oversized cardboard insulators and these will not work. In the future, kaarskoker will offer sleeves that accommodate fixtures with Edison size sockets, which have an inside diameter of approximately 1-1/4”. There are other size sockets but they are very rare and will not be accommodated by the kaarskoker line.

Are kaarskoker or candle covers permanent?
No, candle covers can be easily changed out. So whether you enjoy redecorating seasonally, rent your home or become addicted to kaarskoker, don’t hesitate to customize your light fixture.

What is the cost for kaarskoker candle covers?
4" candelabra sleeves are $16/pair. 6" candelabra sleeves are $18/pair.

How can the product be used?
Easily and with confidence- every pattern/color options instantly improves any fixture. kaarskoker is a simple yet powerful tool. Customization is the hands of the individual to transform a fixture to create a personal statement. Refer to INSTALL to find out how to properly install kaarskoker.

How can I use kaarskoker seasonally?
In addition to specific holiday releases, many patterns found in the current collection easily translate for seasonal decor. Many of the Houndstooth colors are perfect for the month of November. Holiday Houndstooth, Electric Cane, Noir Holiday Cane, Red/Gold Basket, Red/Gold Clover, Gold, Silver are perfect for the December holiday decorating. Coral is perfect for summer, warmer climate regions year round or beach bums.

Is there anything else like this available?
Yes, of course other candle sleeves or candle covers exist. However, prior to kaarskoker one's options were limited to the following: 1) generic plastic or paper candle sleeves, or candle covers, that came with the fixture, 2) paper sleeves that were available in only white, ivory or beige often times with faux dripping wax, or 3) wax/resin candle sleeves or candle covers designed to resemble real candles with faux dripping wax, which often make a fixture look antiquated. See kkBLOG for a history of the candle cover.

Outside of the home, how do you see this product used?
For home sellers, staging with kaarskoker is a unique way to add interest to a listing. Restaurants can add a signature color/pattern to existing fixtures. Department store windows would be great for these. Without a doubt, brides should include this for wedding décor.

Can I customize kaarskoker for my home, business or event?
Yes, we offer customization services. The possibilities for custom designs are endless and April Pride Allison will personally help you create the right design. There is minimum order required and fee for custom orders. Please submit your inquiry to sales@kaarskoker.com.

Where can you buy the product?
In addition to the featured collection of candle sleeves or candle covers at www.kaarskoker.com, please review our current retailers at SHOP>kkRETAILERS.

How was the idea conceived?
When specifying light fixtures for clients and her own home, April Pride Allison was frustrated with the limited, unsophisticated and generic options. See kkBLOG for the full story. The kkCANDLESTICK is April's way of bring the beautiful kaarskoker palette to the tabletop and offering to those with a love of decoration and no light required.

What was the inspiration for the patterns?
Drawing on her background in Architectural History, April looked to ancient motifs for the basis of the collection. These motifs were married with a carefully selected color palette to create designs that transform a fixture to create a personal statement. See kkBLOG for the full story.

What are plans for future products?
April will select from the colors and patterns of the kaarskoker collection to introduce new decorative accessories. Mum is the word for now.

Is the product safe? Do you have U.L. approval?
On April 21, 2008, a U.L. representative notified kaarskoker that U.L. approval was unnecessary. kaarskoker products are inherently safe. Ultimately, safety is determined by the condition of the light fixture. Fixtures that are up to code will have an insulator that encloses the socket, which serves as the first layer of protection between the sleeve or candle cover and electric current source. Contemporary fixtures may not have a cardboard insulator present but rather be fully enclosed by a plastic head. Furthermore, paper sleeves or candle covers have been used on light fixtures for years.

Is there a maximum wattage with which kaarskoker is safe?
Always be respectful of the maximum bulb wattage labeled on your fixture. As an added precaution, trim the kaarskoker (from the bottom; see 'INSTALL') or candle cover so the top of the candle cover does not touch the glass bulb.

How are aPa company and kaarskoker associated?
